Update from Florida

Four more days! Four more days and the girl and her horse are home! It feels like she's been gone forever. The update is that Fab has a sore foot, or the Boss and LM are fairly sure it is a sore foot, and not an injured leg. The vet comes out tomorrow morning to have a look, and so we'll be hoping and praying for the best news. Their thinking is that it might be sand that has made its way under the shoe and is irritating the foot. We'll see what the morning and Dr. Greene brings...

My concerns encompass horse and child. No one warns you about this. Never did I think I would lie awake at night worrying about a horse's hoof.

Lorca Translated

My wonderful husband was reading my blog yesterday evening, and he was annoyed that the post was in Espanol (that means Spanish, honey). Here's the translation:

Excerpt from "New Songs" - F. Garcia Lorca

I am thirsty for scents and for laughter
Thirsty for new songs
without irises or moons,
without dead loves.

A morning song that can shiver
quiet backwaters
of the future and fill
their waves and silt with hope

Frederico Garcia Lorca

Hello Again

Hello. I haven't posted in awhile, but its not because of a lack of things to talk about. I've been busy. Real life just happens sometimes. Things to report: we had a great Christmas here in our new home. Baby Brother flew in from Minneapolis. He had not seen his nieces or nephew in awhile, and was amazed at how much they have grown, and what cool individuals they are becoming. Christmas day he taught Little Mama to make homemade tortellini. He was a patient and wonderful teacher. I stood back and watched, and it felt good. My mom would have loved it, and been so proud.
The house is coming along. I love it more and more. Its small, but cozy, and I'm very happy.
Missing LM tonite. She and the Boss are in Florida training with Miss Ida for three weeks. As much as I miss her, I'm so happy that she has this opportunity. Last year, she was gone for two weeks, and I was able to fly down and see her. This year however, I won't be able to do that. She calls me most days, and I hear about all that she and Fab are learning. I tell myself to get used to this. She's almost seventeen, and she's finding her way. She doesn't need me to the extent that she once did. But, I love this. I love seeing her become the confident, self-sufficient young woman I always hoped she would be.
